Web Design
Since the internet was first invented many people have come in contact with the World Wide Web. And over the last two decades it has become the primary source for information, an important source of fun and a vital way of communicating.
Websites are the main way for users to visualize content on the web. Using a web browser from a computer or, in more recent years, a telephone or tablet a person can gain access to the information he or she seeks. This is where website design plays a key role.
Website design refers to everything from the layout of the text on a site, regarding columns, font, size, color, to complex animations that require third-party software to run. A website designer begins building a website from scratch using a basic plan. Whether for himself/herself or a client, there are certain requirements that need to be taken into account.
It is very important for designers to follow some basic guidelines. That is why in 1994 the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) was formed to provide the standards of web design and “lead it to its full potential”. Website design must start with thorough planning. A client must specify what he or she wants the site to be about, what it offers, what necessities it fulfills and who will be the target audience.
A website should always be simple and organized. Anyone that accesses a site should be immediately able to find the information required. It should contain graphic elements that do not weigh down the site and make it load slower and it should be search engine optimized and its content maximized. All these improve the user experience and permit it to be found online using any search engine.
Website design concerns the appearance of various devices, the way different graphic elements are able to load in more circumstances and the entire look and feel provided to an end-user.
