Interior Design
Interior design is one art form that manages to incorporate both artistic and technical knowledge into one single form that surrounds us in our homes, our offices and the interior of every space we occupy on any given occasion.
As an interior designer, an individual usually possesses knowledge of architecture and has a heavy dose of style, which are then creatively transposed into every bit of a living or working space, from the walls to every piece of furniture residing there. But professional training is not always necessary to become a true artist when it comes to interior design, as some famous designers have proven over time.
The design process consists of various stages that are planned beforehand in order to achieve the final goal that a client has in mind. An objective is set, and after that an analysis and research follow. And interior designer has to take into account all the specifications made by a client regarding design, and also has to pay close attention to time limitations as well as monetary restrictions. After research is complete, a presentation with possible solutions is made to the client and is to be approved for development or submitted to a redesign.
Interior design is usually based on different styles that relate to the different periods in history. Louis XV and Louis XVI contain French style furniture. The Victorian style contains furniture resembling that from the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), described mostly with an abundance of ornaments. Other better known styles include Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Minimalist of Feng Shui.
Not only does interior design derive from history, but is also contains elements based on geography, as every country tends to have a unique approach and a different style. In the modern day, interior design has molded more than one style that manage to coexist perfectly and harmoniously.
