Graphic Design

Graphic design is one of the most challenging and, at the same time, rewarding forms of art. It encompasses various imaginative qualities and an artistic nature that come together to create graphic symbols, images and basically anything that can be used to communicate or to send a message using graphics.

Graphic design applies to various fields or areas of society. It has been used and is still used to create traffic signs, logos, interoffice memorandums, comic books, newspapers, blogs, and so many more. Designers try to communicate a message or to establish a brand, to inform the viewer of a certain action or a form of danger, to present a recognizable mark or to explain something.

Advertising is one field that takes full advantage of graphic design. A company markets a product to the people, but in order for a product to sell more, to become known and, most important, recognizable, it needs to establish an identity. Branding is done using a design for a product or the packaging of the product, and usually includes colors, mottos and logos. The graphic element of a brand becomes one of its most recognizable features.

Graphic design is also present in education, in the form of illustrations attached to lessons in textbooks. A student is more easily able to understand something if he or she can visualize it, so graphics have been introduced in geography, math, chemistry, physics or anatomy books where concepts and theories can become more accessible.

In entertainment, especially when it comes to movies, documentaries and music videos, graphic design has a key role in creating things such as the decoration of a set, the scenery involved in a frame or telling the story in a visual way.

Graphic art has evolved considerably over the years and incorporates many facets of human society with illustrations that help define many things and communicate even more in an original and very artistic way.
